Mr. Kiriyama, former Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Sony Professional, joined the company in 1982, before retiring in 2024. He began his career as an engineer, supporting the launch of the BVH-200, 1” type-C format videotape recorder. He also developed HDCAM-SR machines for high-end TV production, before leading Sony Corporation’s global broadcast and production business. Mr. Kiriyama listened to the voice of the customers, who demanded the evolution of 4K live event capture. Under his leadership, Sony launched the HDC-4300 flagship system camera which debuted in collaboration with leading broadcasters. It’s equipped with 2/3” 3-chip 4K sensors, allowing for 4K imagery, and 8X slow-motion capture in HD. Mr. Kiriyama’s passion for pioneering and background in cinema and production made him a champion of HDR.  He led the development of Sony’s critical evaluation monitors, starting with the BVM-X300, as well as advising on the VENICE and VENICE 2 cinematic cameras. On behalf of Sony, Kiriyama received the Engineering Emmy for the HDC-4300 in 2016, and the Philo T. Farnsworth Corporate Achievement Award in 2017 from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He holds a Science & Technology Peer Group Membership in the Television Academy, reflecting his long-standing commitment to shaping media’s future.
